REPENT wurden Ende 1992 von Michael Müller (dr.) und Philip Rath (git.) gegründet. Nach dem üblichen Weg über Coverversionen nahm die Band zwei Demos (1997 und 1998) mit eigenen Songs auf. Beide Demos wurden in der Fachpresse sehr gut aufgenommen. REPENT wurde damals ein lange Zeit unbeachteter Stil attestiert. Damals wie heute hat man sich im REPENT Lager dem Thrash Metal amerikanischer Prägung verschrieben. Die Einflüsse reichen von SLAYER, EXODUS, FORBIDDEN bis hin zu SACRED REICH und OVERKILL.
Mit neuem Basser und einem zusätzlichen zweiten Gitarristen nahm die Band im Herbst 2000 ihre erste full-length CD „Escape from reality“ auf. Daraufhin folgten Konzerte in ganz Deutschland mit namhaften nationalen, als auch internationalen Bands unterschiedlichster Ausrichtung, wie bspw. SLOUGH FEG (US), EXTREME NOISE TERROR (UK), DISBELIEF (GER), TWISTED TOWER DIRE (US), SOUL DEMISE (GER), KAAMOS (SWE), LEGACY OF HATE (AU) u.v.m.
Das neueste Album „Disciple of decline“ wurde im November 2004 auf AUTOPSY STENCH Rec. veröffentlicht(CD & LP) und zeigt eine musikalisch wie technisch gereifte Thrash Metal Band.
Im Dezember 2005 spielten REPENT in der klassischen alten Besetzung ihre letzten zwei Konzerte, danach stiegen Serkan (v), Andi (g) und Michael (d) aus. Es dauerte drei Jahre bevor REPENT die aktuelle stabile Besetzung zusammen hatten. Neue Songs sind bereits geschrieben. Es ist für Januar 2009 geplant einige neue Songs als Demo aufzunehmen und damit auf Labelsuche zu gehen. Livekonzerte stehen 2009 endlich auch wieder an.

Konzertankündigung des lokalen Veranstalters in Gent, Belgien, 13.02.2005 bzw. alternative Bandhistorie… Paul Baloff used to hang out with the TESTAMENT guys back in 87 after having rehearsed in Frisco. Back then, they used to share a secret project called REPENT but it was so secret nobody ever heard about it. They were so busy that they’ve put it in a freezer and forgot it until the San Francisco Earhtquake unleashed ist wrath upon the miserable mortals, and by a supernatural force defrosted that tape and sent it off to Germany where some crazy TESTAMENT/ EXODUS maniacs were fantasizing about travelling back in time. Back to the future and forward…travelling in time, Steve Khur, Philip Rath and Co. Stopped the clocked back in June 87 and rushed to San Fransisco to immortalise the cult. So REPENT came on the world, released a couple of demos that brought the circle mosh pits back to life…We are now 12th of February 1987, Valentine’s Day and you got your heart beating faster than a hammer…with REPENT presenting live, right in front of you, their latest opus “Disciple of decline” available on CD but also on BLUE and BLACK vinyl.
